Argentinian President Javier Milei Prays and Weeps at the Western Wall

Argentine’s new president, Javier Milei Prayed and Wept at the Western Wall in Jerusalem in his first visit to Israel. Milei made it a priority to make Israel his first diplomatic visit as president.

President Milei vowed to move the Argentinian embassy to Jerusalem, following in the steps of several other nations since the USA, under President Trump, did so in 2018.

The portion of the Western Wall were Jewish people have been praying hundreds of years was the only accessible portion of the Temple Mount to Jewish people until Jerusalem was liberated by Israel in 1967, during the 6 day war. From 1948, when modern Israel was re-established as the Jewish state, until 1967 Jordan, who was controlling Jerusalem at the time, did not allow Jewish people to pray at the Western Wall. Since Israel liberated Jerusalem, the Western Wall, and all of Jerusalem, is accessible to all people.

All of the political establishment of Israel is located in Jerusalem, including Israel’s parliament, known as the Knesset, but for decades no nation was willing to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital until 2018. Every president of the United States for decades promised to move the USA embassy to Jerusalem, but none followed through on their promises until 2018.

Jerusalem is mentioned throughout the Bible as God’s Holy City, where the temple was to be, and were Jewish people where to gather at least three times a year during the pilgrim feasts of Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot.
