Dreams ... A Tribute to Israel's Heroes

This video highlights those who are seen as heroic to many people who value Israel. The video shows many photos of people who appear to be part of the Israeli Defense Forces while music plays in the background. The video also shares some words about how they have dreams and commitments.

And it is good to look at what we value and reflect on our priorities. While the tangible land we are surrounded by can be very important, we should not lose sight of what is the most important and make sure that our heroes are truly heroes in the sight of God. The Bible presents us with many heroes of faith.

Abel and Enoch

“By faith we understand that the universe has been created by a word from God so that the visible came into existence from the invisible. By faith Abel offered a better sacrifice to God than Cain, which showed that he was righteous, since God gave approval to him for his gift. Though he died, he’s still speaking through faith. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he didn’t see death, and he wasn’t found because God took him up. He was given approval for having pleased God before he was taken up. It’s impossible to please God without faith because the one who draws near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards people who try to find him.”

Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

“By faith Noah responded with godly fear when he was warned about events he hadn’t seen yet. He built an ark to deliver his household. With his faith, he criticized the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes from faith. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out without knowing where he was going. By faith he lived in the land he had been promised as a stranger. He lived in tents along with Isaac and Jacob, who were coheirs of the same promise. He was looking forward to a city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God” (Hebrews 11:3-10).

Abraham understood the physical kingdoms of this world were not the main point or end goal of what we should be seeking to secure. “Now every athlete in training submits himself to strict discipline, and he does it just to win a laurel wreath that will soon wither away. But we do it to win a crown that will last forever” (1 Corinthians 9:25). The privileges we have been granted in this life should be viewed and treated in light of God’s ultimate intent for us, “So this is the end of the matter; all has been heard. Worship God and keep God’s commandments because this is what everyone must do” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)

While we may have dreams on this earth, let’s make sure our dreams are to serve God and love everyone.
