This song musically describes the lighting of the menorah. Where does one begin? Which candle? Does one light right to left or left to right, or does one start in the middle, or does it even matter?

“In addition to composing music that offers a soundtrack to people’s lives - whether it be in times of joy or in times of needing a song to get through a tough time, I really believe in the power and possibility of songs changing the world,” Michelle Citrin, the singer/songwriter featured in this piece described her inspiration for a career in music.

“I embrace the commandment of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and interpret it to mean that I should use music as a tool for positive change because of its great power to heal. My hope is to pass on the ancient brilliance of our tradition in an accessible and enjoyable way. I recognize that not every Jew will crack open the Talmud when in need of spiritual connection, but perhaps they will listen to a song that can deliver the same message. Most importantly, I want my music to be welcoming to all. The ROI Community continues to be the gift that keeps giving and I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of the a network that helps pass the torch of Judaism and creates a kind of community that we can all feel proud to be a part of: one that is inclusive, engaging, meaningful and a source of great pride and inspiration.”
