Elisha and the Syrians

Elisha and the Syrians

At a time when the Syrian Army was warring against Israel GOD showed Elisha the prophet where the Syrian army was hiding out.  The King of Syria tried to find out which one of his men was giving the information to the Israelites.  When he was told that no one was giving away the information except Elisha the prophet in Israel, the King of Syria sent his army with horses and chariots to capture Elisha.

In the morning Elisha's servant came to him saying, "Our whole town is surrounded by the Syrian army. What are we going to do?" Elisha told him not to fear. "We have more on our side than they have on theirs."  Then Elisha prayed, "Lord open his eyes that he may see." The Lord opened the eyes of the young man and he saw horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.  When the Syrians came down to get Elisha, he prayed to the Lord, saying, "Strike them with blindness."  God struck them with blindness.

Now Elisha said to them, "This is not the way and this is not the correct city.  Follow me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek."  Elisha led them to the city of Samaria, where the king of Israel was.  When they got to the city Elisha prayed, "Lord open their eyes."  The Lord opened their eyes and they saw that they were in Samaria.  The King of Israel asked Elisha if he should kill them?  Elisha told him to feed them and send them home.  The King of Israel served them a great feast and sent them back to Syria.  They did not bother Israel again.

As we allow God to open our eyes of faith we will see God and all the angels of heaven on our side.  As you exercise the faith God has given you, you will see Him do mighty things for you and through you.  He will even work within you, giving you love and mercy towards your enemies.
