First Ever Sanhedrin Era Remains Uncovered in Central Israel

The Israeli Antiquities Authority reported that remains dating back to the time of the Sanhedrin have been uncovered at Yavneh, including possible burial places of the “Sages of Yavneh”.

After the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, the Sanhedrin was relocated ( by Rabban Yochanan ben Zakai) to the coastal city of Yavnehin Central Israel, where facing a future without the Temple, they began the work of codifying Judaism into the form we have today.
