Do You Want to Build the Sukkah

This creatively done film was reportedly crafted, recorded, and filmed all in one day and is a parody commemorating the holiday of Sukkot.

The new year has come; the day of atonement has passed, and the sins we have repented of have been washed away and cleansed from our lives. Sukkot, which always starts on a new moon, is a time of gathering the harvest for the year and all the Lord has blessed us with in the fields. The holiday is also known as Chag Haasif in honor of the agricultural bounties redeemed this time of year. This is a time that also commemorates the nomadic temporary shelters the Children of Israel lived in during the forty years in the wilderness, to protect them from the harsh desert climate. Sukkot was one of the three pilgrimage feasts where the citizens of ancient Jerusalem made a trip to the Temple. These seven days lead directly into the holiday of Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah.

“So your descendants should know that I had the children of Israel live in shelters when I took them out of the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 23:43).
